All you need to know
The Musikids Policy….and Frequently Asked Questions!
Which class is just right for us? Each class has an age recommendation. These are made to ensure that children are grouped in a developmentally appropriate way and are a guide for you. Your child needs to be at least the minimum age for the chosen class by the start of a semester.
At what age should I start my child? Babies as young as 3 weeks old have begun classes with a parent at Musikids. We specialise in the young child newborn – 7 years. As soon as you are ready to attend a class with your newborn, we can accommodate you. With 12 years experience, you can feel confident that we will make you feel at home!
Can we join a class at anytime during the term/semester? Yes you can! Fees will be calculated on a pro-rata basis in addition to the deposit. This is also subject to the availability of space in the class.
If you wish to enrol in Our Time or Imagine That! classes, be advised that these are semester long programmes & not all material is covered in the first half of the semester , if you enrol in the second half of the semester.
It may not be advisable at the time to enrol in a Young Child or Encore on Keys class, as the children in these classes are very settled in their classes after the first semester and are quite advanced. A new member to the class may feel fairly lost in one of these classes. It may be best to wait til the beginning of the next year.
How do I enrol?
- Complete the “Online Enrolment Form”, and you will be contacted to ensure availability.
- An invoice will be emailed to you for payment to be made. Payment details can be found at the bottom of the invoice.
- A $100 deposit is required to hold your place in a class, with the balance due prior to, or at the first class.

How much does a Casual Class Cost? $18 per class in Village (newborn-18mo) and Our Time (18mo – 3yrs) classes only, for up to 3 classes in one term for visitors to our area only. Please speak to us if you have any further questions here.
If I need to cancel our enrolment, can I get the deposit back? If you have not attended a class you will receive your deposit less a $20 administration fee. If you have attended class and have taken your materials home we cannot refund the deposit. The materials are yours to keep. In extreme circumstances, the term fee less $10 per class not attended can be refunded.
Do you REALLY need the At Home Materials? Most definately. We cannot stress enough how important the contents of your At Home Materials assist the development of Music & Movement in your home. They are the thread that tightly connects the Musikids classroom to your child and continues the learning during the week. Constant use of these materials ensures your child enjoys the activities, feels secure and participates confidently in the classroom.
How do I know when my child is too sick to come to class? Our Sickness Policy is: “IF IT IS GREEN, YOU ARE NOT TO BE SEEN!” Please continue to attend Musikids if your child is not showing signs of flu-like or sickness symptoms. If your child is exhausted or too sick to play or visit friends, then it may be a good idea to stay at home just in case, so that others are not infected.
We have a firm belief that rest is best and that goes for the teacher too! That way we all stay well enough to make great music! You are encouraged to makeup the class you missed on another day in any other week WITHIN the term that the session was missed.
What happens if we miss a class? Please notify us that you will not be attending class via email/phone/SMS.
You are encouraged to attend a makeup lesson in a class that is not filled to capacity. This makeup lesson must be organised with us prior to you attending. We have an excellent attendance rate also due to those families who do commit to their make-ups.
If classes are missed were due to serious illness (hospitalisation) and/or leaving the area suddenly, $10 per class can be credited for those classes unattended only when advance notice is given. i.e. one week notice prior to/or after incident. It is the same amount for all classes.
When do we arrive for class, and if my child takes the class without me, do I stay nearby? Arrive 5 minutes prior to class commencing so that we begin on time. If your child is enrolled in an Imagine That!, Young Child or Encore on Keys class, it is advised that you stay on or nearby the premises. You could use this time to rest yourself! It is important that you are there for the last 10 – 15minutes of these classes for Sharing/Family Time.
What do we need to bring to class? Please dress comfortably & be prepared to take your shoes off for class. If your child is enrolled in an Imagine That, Young Child or Encore on Keys class each child will be required to bring their At Home Materials and any homework completed. Please do not bring toys to class as they can be a distraction to class routine.
Should we bring food & a drink to class just in case we get hungry? Under NO circumstances is food to be consumed in the Musikids foyer or classroom. Please work feeding times around the class time as best as you can. If you do need to breastfeed, please do so in the peace and quiet of the foyer.
Can I bring other family members or friends to watch us in class? This is not advised. All children enrolled in their specific classes depend on continuity for the class to feel safe & secure. An additional person in the class upsets the flow of the lesson.
It is not ideal for siblings to attend Village or Our Time classes with the child that is enrolled. These programs have been specially designed for you and your child only. A Family Time class caters perfectly for families with more than one child.
Please speak to us if you are still unsure of what to do at the time of enrolment.
Can we take photos or video my child in class? Not without prior permission from all participants in the class, other than at concert times.
Can I purchase gift vouchers for friends & family? Yes! Vouchers are valid for the duration of 12 months from the date of purchase.
I have another question……
